Lost Mines of Phandelver: 3 – Your Heroes…

In this session, our heroes:

Kui-Kui Valefor, the Human Noble Fighter,

Viggo of Wandervil, the Human Druid,

Euphemia “Mia” Tosscobble, the Halfling Rogue,

Count Erspell, the Elvish Mage,

Dave, the Human Folk Hero Fighter,

& Eorlund Granitefella, the Dwarvish Cleric

Had finally made it to the town of Phandalin, with Gundren’s supplies intact, they completed the task they had initially been hired for. The kindly shopkeeper Elmar Barthen, started talking to Mia very coldly, as though he knew her from somewhere, and not for a good reason.

On delivery of the goods, Barthen was to pay the group the remaining 5 Gold owed to them. Though it seems our “Heroes” felt that it was too little pay for everything that they had gone through to get there. They tried to swindle Barthen out of an extra 5 Gold each, hoping he wasn’t aware that they had already been paid half in advance. Sildar, being the bastion of Goodness that he is, tried to inform the shopkeep of what the group was owed, but was suddenly knocked unconscious by Dave… (GM: If you can’t tell, I’m a little salty about how this scene played out)

After their stint of extortion and elder abuse (GM: OK I’ll stop now), Mia decided to tell the group the reason Barthen acted so cold towards her… she used to be a member of the Redbrands, a group of thugs, ruffians & thieves, that have been causing no end of trouble for businesses and residents of Phandalin.

The group headed to the local inn to settle down for the night and recover from their injuries from the day. Kui-Kui used his Noble rank to attain some free rooms for everyone, and the group took a well-earned rest, all except Dave, who decided to stay in the bar, regaling his tales of adventure and drinking far more than his fair share of ale.

The next morning our heroes awoke (all except Dave, who was nursing a nasty hangover) first they convinced Sildar he had been unconscious since the goblin encounter, then Count Erspell headed to the local Shrine of Luck to talk to a Sister Garland that he had seen visions about. Approaching the shrine, they came across an Elven woman, tending to the shrine, who by chance or divine intervention, was the very elf Erspell saw. Asking her about the shrine, the Sister told the group about an organisation called the Harpers, a group dedicated to keeping political balance across the known world. She offered Erspell a quest to help learn the location of a powerful spell book that would help the Harpers, they took it into consideration but felt they had more pressing matters in finding Gundren.

With their goals set, the group headed straight to the armoury, not just for new equipment, but to inform the proprietor that her lost supplies had been found at the Cragmaw Hideout. she rewarded them with a small bag of gold and a sizable discount on her stock, which the crew took great advantage of.

With new weapons & armour, a cash reward in their sights, the Adventure Continues…
