Lost Mines Of Phandelver : 6 – Assault On The Redbrands
In this session, our heroes:
Euphemia “Mia” Tosscobble, the Halfling Rogue,
Count Erspell, the Elvish Mage,
And HotDog, His Owl Familiar,
Kui-Kui, the Human Noble Fighter,
Dave, the Human Folk Hero Fighter,
& Eorlund Granitefella, the Dwarvish Cleric
Enter the Redbrand hideout.
Searching the entrance hall, Euphemia spotted a satchel at the bottom of a cistern. With help from Kui-Kui, Mia was able to recover the satchel and found it to be an emergency exit bag containing; invisibility potions and a few supplies to help lie low for a while.
While Mia was swimming, Dave noticed a small bit of dirt being disturbed by a small draught. Upon inspection, he found a secret door, sending Hotdog to scout ahead, Erspell saw through his owl’s eyes seeing the way was clear. The group marched on, coming into a large cabin with a deep ravine splitting the room in two.
Dave led the way into the cave but stopped in his tracks when he heard his name being spoken in his mind “Daaave… Oh DaaAAAve”
Euphemia heard the same voice in her mind and quickly got Erspell to send out Hotdog to find where and what the mind tricks were coming from.
Hiding behind a rock, Hotdog found Nothic, a deranged creature with psychic abilities. The Nothic pleaded with the group to let him live, as he was just the Gaurd and only did it to get a bit of food, but even then that wasn’t very often, as he was told the Redbrands were an impoverished group. Mia told the Nothic they just come from a room filled with barrels full of cheese, ham and other foods just laying around. Convinced he had been lied to, Nothic told the group they could find a secret side entrance to Glasstaff’s room just north of the ravine. Thanking the creature, Mia pointed out the room with the food to which the Nothic headed straight to. Screams were heard from the room but our heroes paid them no mind.
Finding the secret passage, the group opened the door the end to see Glasstaff at his desk completely unaware of them. Erspell used mage hand to take Glasstaff’s namesake, a glass staff, Mia snuck up behind him and put a blade to his throat.
Finally, the moment was here, Mia would be able to find out why Glasstaff threw her out of the Redbrands and marked her for death. But the moment was lost as Glasstaff mocked her by claiming to not know who she even was.
Pressing Glasstaff for information, he told the group he and the Redbrands had been hired by an individual known only as the Black Spider, Mia looked to the other members of her party to see if the name meant anything to them. Glasstaff felt the blade at his neck loosen and use this opportunity to act, hitting Mia with a charm spell.
Mia fully succumbed to the spell and on Glasstaff’s order, removed the blade from his throat and attack her party. Before anyone could realise what had happened, Mia turned towards Erspell and stabbed him in the groin. Glasstaff let off a few spells but was quickly filled by Kui-Kui’s axe.
Dave was lining up a shot to try to knock out the charmed halfling. Hotdog tried to distract her but was that was cut down by Mia, killing the owl. Dave fired the shot that grazed Mia’s skull, knocking her unconscious.
With Glasstaff fallen, all that Remains of the Redbrands is a few Thugs,
Will Erspell be able to forgive Mia for her actions?
