World Converged: Session 0

Journal Entry 0: FUCK!!

FUCK! I don’t know what happened, it was just a simple delivery job. Take the parcel, deliver the parcel, smile and leave. Why didn’t it feel weird, don’t these things feel weird when they’re going to go so far off the rails like this? They seemed like a nice enough guy, why would someone want them dead? Not just dead, fucking exploded! Raven Queen’s blessing the package didn’t explode while I was carrying it!

Some passers-by saw me after the bomb went off, they ran yelling for help. I just couldn’t be around when the ‘peacekeepers’ turn up. Doesn’t matter that I didn’t know it was going to happen, I’d be as good as guilty in their eyes and they’d string me up from the nearest balcony.

I’d been planning on leaving the city for a while anyway, but this gave me no choice, I had to leave NOW. I didn’t even give myself time to say goodbye to my family. I hope they’ll be OK and not worry about me too much. I’ll contact them as soon as I figure out how.

After talking with my smuggler contact, they arranged for me to leave later that afternoon. All I had to do was head down into the Barlock cavern waterway and wait.

Someone else had decided to leave the city too. They were in the cave before I arrived, must have spooked them since they put out their torch when I approached. They said their name was Ty, I gave my name as Finn. Neither of us gave any details as to why we were leaving, just that we had to.

There was a rumbling in the water as a large metal turtle surfaced, Ty and I stood back with our hands on our weapons just in case. Nothing happened for a moment, then a hatch opened up on the top and an orc climbed out. They demanded our payment, which we both threw to him. They threw down a ladder and we climbed up and into the machine.

The orc led us to our rooms and gave a very stern and very short list of rules, don’t fuck with stuff, and don’t look in the cargo hold. Fair enough really. Ty cracked a joke about room service, which I think the orc found funny, but I couldn’t tell.

The next few days were pretty dull, I spent most of my time just staring at this burnt delivery note. I think Ty is working on something in his room, I hear the odd banging and whirring noise that doesn’t seem to be coming from the submarine.

I embarrassed myself at dinner, Servo (the gnome girl… captain I think, though the orc shows her very little in the way of rank respect) threw us our lunches and made a quip about not catching with style, so I threw it back and told her to try again. She did and I pulled one of my daggers from the shadows… and completely missed. I sheepishly had to pick my food off the floor and ate in silence.

Ty took away some of the attention off me, by revealing he had a mechanical arm! That immediately got Servo’s attention as she climbed the table and started talking specs and upgrades with Ty (I think a flamethrower was mentioned, honestly, that’d be pretty cool)

Later that evening, there was banging and creaking coming from the outside of the sub. The orc told us to get our stuff and be ready for a fight as Servo surfaced the machine. Ty the Orc and I climbed up to the top of the sub to find four weird fish people prying open the panels of the sub with strange-looking spears. The orc was as fierce as, well, an orc, Ty though… I think I know now what he has been working on, as during the fight a pure white copy of himself started fighting alongside us! It was amazing! We managed to kill three of them and one escaped. I took a proper beating (paying for my sins already).

Thankfully there wasn’t much damage done to the hull, so with minimal repairs, we were able to continue with our journey pretty quickly.

The orc took us all down to the mess hall and pulled out a bottle of booze, he served us drinks, finally telling us that his name was Angron. He also let us ask him 5 questions concerning what they were carrying in the hold. Obviously, he couldn’t tell is WHAT it was they had down there or who it was from or for, but he said he would answer our questions.

It was nice of him, but I didn’t have much interest in it, it is their business and I know more than anyone not to question what’s in the parcel… although maybe I should have asked this one time…

A few more uneventful days passed before we reached our destination. Servo and Angron pulled up onto a secluded beach to let us off, to not blow their cover. We all wished each other the best as they sank below the waters again.

Ty has business in a nearby town called Honeycrest and asked if I would like to accompany him. I had no plans other than “Leave the city” so I thought I might tag along until something came up for me.

Fuck… Infinite out.
