Case 3.9: Shoot First…

It was a quiet part of the Fiend District. Most other businesses had moved out of the area, leaving a small village of abandoned warehouses. The officers pulled up outside the one Brogan had directed them to. All the windows had been boarded up, the fire exit could t be opened from the outside, and the only way in was through the front door.

The officers crept into the foyer of the warehouse. They couldn’t tell from the outside, someone had kept the lights on, there may be someone home. Searching the rooms off the entrance hall, they found one room full of crates. Jericho pried one open to find it full of knock-off DVDs and counterfeit trainers (Which he bagged a set for himself). Eddie checked the closet of the room and found the building’s fuse box. He posted Guido there with instructions to flip the fuses off at his command. Another room was set up with a sofa and tv, someone was living there. The last door opened up into a room kitted out with the medical equipment the orcs have spotted, IV stands, oxygen tanks, and syringes. If there was blood being harvested, this was the room it happened in. Blaine started looking through cupboards, finding a full blood bag in one. This was the evidence they needed to bring anyone in.

Fingle poked his head through the other door, leading into the large storage area of the warehouse. Up on a balcony, he spotted a woman having a smoke. He relayed this to the rest of the squad and they got ready for a confrontation.

Eddie gave the word and Guido pulled the fuse; the building went dark. Fingle rushed into the room trying to close the gap between him and the woman, Eddie, using Fingle’s torchlight to aim, fired a crossbow shot at her, hitting her in the chest, she called out for help and ran into the observation room. There was a roar from an attached room as a bugbear crashed his way into the room, wielding a sledgehammer, he and Jericho traded blows, with Jericho getting the worst of it for most of their fight, thankfully, Blaine was there to keep him on his feet.

Eddie and Fingle charged up the steps, following the girl. They hit the room from both sides so she couldn’t escape. But they didn’t know there was a third person in the building. A man was standing in the middle of the room, waiting for them. Seeing Fingle first, he let out a roar as he changed shape. He was a were-boar! He charged at Fingle, striking him with his tusks. Eddie sent in MimeTron to fight as he stood back and took shots with his crossbow, landing one on the girl to knock her out.

It was a close fight, but eventually, the officers won, cuffing the 3 of them and gathering them in the foyer. Fingle wasn’t feeling too good after the fight and let the others finish up at the warehouse as he went to the hospital. Having a feeling, Eddie pulled out the Conduit detector and waved it at the convicts. It started beeping. The woman was a Conduit!
