Case 3.P1: The Procession

With the building going up in flames behind them, the group left the troll in the alleyway, taking only Xuntul. The Officers noticed the street was a lot quieter than when they had arrived, although the area seemed quiet before. Now it felt like someone had cast Silence over the entire District. Filfaere alerted the Officers that she felt the Procession had started and that they needed to leave the area as soon as possible.

The group hurried to the van but stopped in their tracks when they saw a mass of creatures approaching them. Most of the horde were Kronenburg-esque creatures with too many or too few limbs and weird shapes dancing down the street. Leading the Procession were some very tall lanky creatures, nearly 15ft tall, with limbs that stretched and bent in weird, uncomfortable ways. These creatures wore long coats, plague doctor masks and enormous hats.

With not enough time to make it to the van, the Officers tried hiding, diving into whatever crevasses they could find. Fingle and Eddie were spotted as the tall creatures bent down and stared at them. Two of them raised a long, bony finger, and pressed it into the Officer’s foreheads, too scared to move, no one could stop them. Fingle and Eddie both felt a slight pressure in their head, but that was all, Blaine thought, could see what they had done, as he saw the familiar silver thread leaving their heads and pointing deeper into the Lich District.

The Procession eventually passed after what felt like hours. Jericho emerged from the bush he was hiding in with Xuntul and Filfaere, to find Xuntul’s head missing and Filfaere nowhere to be seen. The officers decided that pursuing the assassin wasn’t worth it, as they dove into the van and floored it out of the accursed district.
