Tomb of Annihilation: 10
Dear Skye,
I hope this letter finds you in high spirits. You must be bored of hearing of our exploits by now, but I can’t stop myself from sharing them with you. I promise, I’ll try to add a touch of spice to the tale to keep you entertained.
We’ve been bestowed with the honor of being recognized as allies by the Order of the Gauntlet, and we now have a place to call home on this unfamiliar land, Camp Vengeance. However, our comfort was short-lived as we soon found ourselves venturing back into the wilderness.
Seki and Dolores, in their typical mischievous nature, tried to pair me with our new companion, Orladhall. I must admit, I was amused by their efforts but I declined their offer. I’m not sure what they took my rejection to mean, but I told them I was ‘past that whole thing.’ They left seemingly embarrassed, their faces as red as a ripe tomato.
During our journey, we indulged in theological debates, discussing our respective deities. I found it to be a rather enlightening conversation. We encountered a group from the Emerald Enclave and received useful information about a nearby goblin village named Yellyark. They are stationed at Fort Beluarian, in case we need to find them again.
One night was particularly memorable. We were abruptly awakened by heavy stomping. Investigating the source, we found a trio of frost giants, who looked as out of place in the humid climate as a polar bear in a desert. They were on the hunt for a stolen artifact, the Ring of Winter. Seki, who could speak their language, conversed with them and got them to agree to keep their presence a secret. The rest of us could only watch in awe.
One of the more peaceful encounters we had was with a lone triceratops and her nest of soon-to-be hatchlings. Angle had the idea of raising one of the hatchlings, but we decided to respect nature and left them undisturbed.
A significant discovery we made was a large statue, which turned out to be Vorn, a shield guardian, in a deactivated state. But the control amulet was missing. We found batiri goblin tracks around, pointing towards Yellyark. So, it looks like our next adventure might involve some goblin negotiations.
It feels like each day in Chult is a new story. And as for the Shiny Happy People, we’re determined to see each one through to the end. Wish us luck, dear Skye.
Yours,
Mugen
