Dear Skye,
I write to you with a mixture of exhaustion and elation. We, the “Shiny Happy People” as we’ve started to call ourselves, arrived at Camp Vengeance, only to find it far from the safe haven we’d hoped. The conditions were shocking, with mud and mould everywhere, and many of the Order of the Gauntlet’s zealots in pitiful states from the jungle’s harsh conditions.
Dolores, Angle, Seki, and I lent our aid to the camp, doing what we could to improve the situation. Dolores and Angle used their divine magic to heal many of the injured zealots. In the process, we met a dragonborn named Orladhall Daardendrain, who had also been hired by Syndra Silvane to find and destroy the Soulmonger. He joined our ranks, bolstering the Shiny Happy People’s numbers.
However, not all was well. Dolores, filled with righteous anger, confronted the camp’s commander, Niles Breakbone, blaming him for the dismal state of affairs. Niles, in his arrogance, attempted to use us as pawns, ordering us to transport injured zealots back to Port Nyanzaru. We refused, and this led to a standoff that threatened to erupt into violence. It was only Seki’s calm words and the unexpected mutiny of Niles’ own captains that averted a disaster.
With Sister Cyas, the head priest, now leading Camp Vengeance, we were allowed to stay and continue our aid efforts. We all did our part: Dolores healed the injured; Seki tended to sick goats; De’leon provided fresh water to the most needy; and I offered Sister Cyas the location of a food cache we found earlier. In return, she marked all known areas of undead activity on Syndra’s Map, aiding us greatly in our journey.
In the midst of all this, I’ve noticed something in Dolores that reminds me of you, Skye. Her courage, her steadfastness, her willingness to stand up to injustice – it’s as if I’m seeing your spirit reflected in her. I’m not sure how to feel about it, but it brings a sense of comfort and familiarity in this foreign land.
We rest now, our spirits lifted by our successful aid efforts and the addition of Orladhall to our ranks. We move forward with renewed determination to complete our mission and make you proud.
