Case 3.12: Losing Lunch
The basement was cold and dank, the sounds of moaning could be heard off in the distance. While the officers prepped themselves to advance, a wall opened up, and a troll stepped out carrying a crate. The officers tried to hide from him, but with nowhere to go, the troll dropped the crate and attacked. A short fight later, the troll was detained; the officers checked the contents of the crate. It was full of vials of red liquid. The wall the troll had come through had sealed up and they couldn’t find a way through.
Checking the other doors in the room, the officers could hear a lot of moaning behind one door. Opening it, they found a collection of amalgamated zombies. Jericho charged in, swinging his glaive. These zombies put up more of a fight, some refusing to stay down, even after taking some serious blows, but the officers persevered and defeated them. Eddie recognised the shape of one, pointing out that it was the guy that collected the blood from the park.
The officers found a locked door at the back of the zombies’ room. Jericho picked the lock, opening the door to find a Drow woman.
The drow woman revealed herself to be Filfaere Balond, an assassin of the Dark Order, and that she had been sent to re-kill Drow necromancy called Xuntul Molder. She had snuck into the basement, but was overwhelmed by dog zombies and captured, probably to be used for parts.
Filfaere agreed to join the party to fight, on the condition that she leave Molder to them.
The officers encountered the dogs that attacked Filfaere, they quickly surrounded the Drow again, she would have been overwhelmed again, but the Officers stepped in and took them down.
Eddie sent MimeTron further into the basement to scout ahead. Mimetron told the party (in his way) that he heard static up ahead. The static got louder as the officers moved up the corridor until they came to a metal door, which MimeTron inferred the static was coming from the other side.
Opening the door, the officers found a room full of TV sets, all showing static screens. Walking through the strange room, they started hearing insults being spoken into their minds. Jericho is told he’s a terrible father, Eddie is told he will always be in his father’s shadow, Fingle is told his wife didn’t join him in Jentari because she didn’t love him, and Blaine was picked on for their introverted nature. Fingle ran out of the room to escape the voices. Jericho got called an inadequate father one too many times and smashed one of the TVs. Black smoke poured out of the smashed screen, forming into a dark ghost.
