Case 3.7: Downtime

With the trail of the supposedly kidnapped Conduit gone cold, the Officers took a few days off for themselves.

Fingle took his driving exam, led by a Minotaur woman called Mabel. Fingle found driving a car differed from driving a tractor, but despite some early faults, he passed!

When the Halfling arrived home, he found a small party had started in the front yard. Most of the family was there to congratulate Fingle on passing, including his sister Clementine and her goliath husband Doros. Not that it was a massive deal, but they felt like they needed an excuse to have a get-together.

Eddie visited his old friend Tech-Sensei, a white Dragonborn that had taken to a secluded life out in the suburbs. The pair discussed their various projects and inventions before Eddie revealed his true reason for visiting. He wanted Tech-Sensei to root out the moles in the police, specifically the ones that handed them over to Tulgan. TS said he would and also gifted Eddie a new piece of tech, a booster that he could fit into their police car.

Jericho pulled his car up outside Mama Rageegee’s building, his uniform cleaned and pressed. He knocked on the door and was once again greeted by Sara, the snow elf. She let him in and called to Mama that Jericho had arrived. The orc came out from the kitchen and gathered all the kids into the lounge, where Jericho gave a talk to them about safety. Jericho covered the basics: don’t talk to strangers, don’t get in strangers’ cars, and always let someone know if you plan on going anywhere. He then finished up by teaching some basic self-defence, only to get mauled slightly by an over-enthusiastic gnoll girl.

Blaine, dressed in their most casual suit, made their way into the devil’s district. On a tip from Jericho, he hoped to find someone selling necromancy books and gear. He came across a rather conspicuous shop front, which, compared to the rest of the buildings on the block, looked in suspiciously good condition.

Blaine knocked on the door and heard scrambling on the other side. A peephole slid open and a goblin’s face poked through. The goblin asked what they wanted, Blaine, bluntly, respond by asking if they sold Necromancy tomes. The peephole slid shut as the goblin opened the door and ushered Blaine into the store.

Inside was a jumble of various books, scrolls, and artefacts. The Goblin introduced themselves as Igs and followed up with a few questions for Blaine: If they were a Cop, if they were a member of the Necromancy Guild or if they had any affiliation with one Madam Bzatrux. Blaine answered no to all the questions.

Satisfied, Igs started digging out items for Blaine, several spell scrolls, and a very evil-looking book called the Naturom Demento. Blaine purchased the book and some scrolls. Before he left, Blaine enquired about the Necromancy Guild. Igs thought Blaine was a trustworthy sort and said that they would try to arrange an introduction. Blaine thanked the Goblin and started making their way home.
