Lost Mines of Phandelver : 17 – Forge Brawl

Our heroes:

Euphemia “Mia” Tosscobble, the Halfling Rogue,

Count Erspell, the Elvish Mage,

Kui-Kui, the Human Noble Fighter,

Viggo, the Human Druid,

Dave, the Human Folk Hero Fighter,

& Eorlund Granitefella, the Dwarvish Cleric

The party bravely continues their fight against the flaming skull and its horde of zombies.

While the skull is being grappled by Kui-Kui, Euphemia takes aim and shoots it straight in his eye socket. The skull lets out a whimper and it’s flames subside.

Viggo, still in his gecko form, continues to spray acid down at the zombies from the ceiling, melting the ghouls.

To escape the advancing horde, Erspell and Mia climb on top of the decommissioned forge. From their elevated position, the pair take potshots of spells and arrows at the approaching zombies.

Eorlund starts to feel his divinity wavering as the undead that was once afraid of him now seeming less so, with some of the ‘scared’ zombies turning back around and walking towards the dwarf.

With Eorlund surrounded by zombies, Erspell realised he had thrown a bottle of holy water at them, unfortunately, he missed completely and hits the dwarf square the face.

Dave joins the rest of the party on top of the forge. With him and Mia shooting at the zombies and Viggo dropping acid on any survivors the party managed to win the fight.

Once again making no time to mourn his fallen compatriot summons yet another owl, he sends out to scout while the party tends to their wounds and set up camp for the “night”.

Each member of the party takes a shift to keep watch all is quiet until it’s Eorlund’s turn, where he hears something approaching the camp. He wakes up the other members and tells them to hide. No sooner do the party get into their hiding spots before a larger than average bugbear enters the forge room. Not wanting to fight it, the party keeps their heads down and stay out of sight. This works as the bugbear surveys the room, cannot find hide nor hair of anything wrong, turns around and leaves, returning to his patrol.

Coming to what the party believes to be the morning they pack away their gear and continue into the cave. Down one corridor they find a door which has strangely a table upended and nailed to it, seemingly sealing whatever is on the other side.

Kui-Kui tries to listen to see if there is anything on the other side of the door. Hearing nothing, he grabs the table and rips it and the door from its hinges.

On the other side of the door staring at disbelief at what has happened, were five surprised bugbears.

And so the party get themselves into yet another fight

The adventure continues…
