Lost Mines of Phandelver: 10 – So Many Twigs
Our heroes:
Euphemia “Mia” Tosscobble, the Halfling Rogue,
Count Erspell, the Elvish Mage,
Kui-Kui, the Human Noble Fighter,
Viggo, the Human Druid,
Dave, the Human Folk Hero Fighter,
& Eorlund Granitefella, the Dwarvish Cleric
As the army of twig blights set upon Count Erspell and Kui-Kui, the elf calls for help hoping that another member of the party are nearby. Dave, hearing the cry for help, ran straight towards the house drawing his bow and quickly letting off two arrows, killing two of the little creatures. Viggo follows closely behind. Mia also hears the commotion and runs over to lend her assistance.
One of the twigs managed to land a hit on to Kui-Kui, although it caused almost no damage to him, the Sword of Vengeance’s ability started to make Kui-Kui see red. With his mind filled with nothing but thoughts of killing that one particular twig Kui-Kui’s skin starts to glow red as he yells various obscenities and completely destroys the creature. On the death of the twig, Kui-Kui’s skin started to turn back to its normal colour and his mind returned to its usual, calm state.
The twigs are easily dealt with once the whole party (apart from Eorlund, who got lost) jumped into the fray.
To the north of the town, the party found what looks like an old tavern. Mia opened the front door slowly and carefully and noticed that some of the bodies on the ground covered in ash started to move! She slowly closed the door and the party decided to go elsewhere.
Walking around the south of town spell suddenly noticed that is movement seemed sluggish, as he realised he stepped on a giant spiders web. Erspell managed to escape the web just as two giant spiders made their presence known inside the house on the side of the road. The elf quickly summoned his Burning Sphere and sent it into the house, burning up the webbing on the floor and the two spiders inside.
The next house the party decided to check they had even less luck with. WIth Dave deciding to boot down the door, he alerts the four Ash zombies inside who raised to their feet and march on the party. Eorlund shows off a new spell by summoning a spectral sword to attack the zombies in the house. Erspell sends Hotdog round to scout the back of the house.
After a short battle, Erspell noticed he couldn’t see through Hotdogs eyes any longer. The party hurried to the back of the house to Hotdogs last known location, but find the owl’s still body surrounded by twig blights. In a fit of rage and grief, Erspell blasted the twigs in a cone of Fire then Dave picked off any survivors.
The party has suffered a great lo… what’s that? Erspell is just summoning a new owl? Oh… OK…
